The Mentoring Partnership

PPG Paints Arena
October 5
5:30 – 9 p.m.

The power and impact of mentoring will be spotlighted this Thursday night at PPG Paints Arena.

Hosted by The Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern PA (TMP), the biennial celebration is honoring the many dedicated mentors and organizations who support 20,000 kids throughout the region.

At its 10th “Magic of Mentoring” event — one of the region’s premier networking gatherings — TMP will present the 2017 Thieman Award to the Pittsburgh Penguins for its organization-wide efforts to support youth and advocate for mentoring. Beyond the ice — where the team has won the coveted Stanley Cup five times — the Penguins organization has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to community service.

Some 1,000 people are expected to join TMP on the ice, where they will have the exciting chance to take photos with the 2017 Stanley Cup Championship Banner.

Attendees can watch “speed painter” Cody Sabol create a custom Pens-themed artwork that will be showcased in the silent auction and can bid on getaway packages and tickets to local attractions.

Open to the public, the festivities will include cocktails, hors d’oeuvre and desserts. TMP will also present the Excellence in Mentoring Award to the West Greene School District.

Proceeds will benefit TMP’s work with more than 150 mentoring programs.
