When they couldn’t get to Philly for a concert due to the snowstorm, the acoustic group Guster decided to make music where they were — in Pittsburgh; specifically in the Northside, with a dumpster for a backdrop. Call it a Dumpster set. That’s what they’re doing.
Best known for songs such as “Satellite” and “Do You Love Me,” the Boston-based trio surprised a dozen or so Northsiders with an outdoor set starting at 2 p.m., after the snow in Pittsburgh had ended.
The band tweeted the location of the set — Sampsonia & Veto — at 1:20 p.m. and took “the stage” shortly thereafter. In addition to the fans, community members and two friendly dogs watching them in person, nearly 1,200 people tuned in for the impromptu online broadcast, according to Mark Jourdian of the Network Music Group.
