Could there be a better time for comfort food? We rounded up some of the region’s favorite sweet and savory indulgences that are available for pickup and delivery during this COVID-19 crisis. Yes, it’s important to eat your fruits and vegetables, but it’s OK to treat yourself every once in a while. Especially now.

Mad Mex Gobblerito

Let’s give mad props to Mad Mex for bringing back the Gobblerito during our time of need. The restaurant chain’s Thanksgiving burrito is typically only offered in the fall. Turkey, black bean mashed potatoes, stuffing, celery, onion and corn are wrapped in a tortilla, topped with gravy and served with a side of cranberry sauce. It’s available now at their locations in Shadyside (220 S. Highland Ave.) and Canonsburg (200 Lakeside Dr. N.) by ordering online for pickup from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Or you can have it delivered using DoorDash or UberEats. Gobble one up before they’re gone!

DIY kits from Le Cupcake Shoppe

Le Cupcake Shoppe, a mini cupcakery at 109 Capital Ave. in Brookline, is selling decorate-your-own cupcake kits for curbside pickup. It’s a craft project and a treat for your kids! Pickup times are noon to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop

Stock up on sweets, specialty pop and novelty gifts (because we all need a laugh) at Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop. The company is running a Curbside Candy Concierge Service on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its Strip District location, 2124 Penn Ave. Send your requests via Facebook or to orders@grandpajoes.com.

Get your Primanti Bros. fix

When a PB&J just won’t do, order a Primanti Bros. sandwich … because everything’s better when it’s topped with fries and slaw. The 87-year-old Pittsburgh institution is offering carryout and free delivery when you order via its website, mobile app or DoorDash.

It’s getting Caliente in here

All Caliente Pizza & Drafthouse locations are offering curbside pickup and no-contact delivery. Either call your nearest location or order and pay online and let the driver know where you want your food dropped off. On Monday, the award-winning company is releasing new menu items to get you through the pandemic, including specialty pizzas, meatball hoagies, hush puppies and deep-fried pierogies. If you’ve got a budding chef at home, Caliente also offers pizza-making kits. Two, one-topping DIY pies are $22.

Sprezzatura’s Italian eats by the pan

Sprezzatura Cafe in Millvale offers takeout and curbside pickup Tuesday through Saturday to supply you with Italian favorites by the pan, including spaghetti and meatballs, vegetable lasagna and stuffed shells. Check out the menu and ordering instructions online and then call 412-266-4424 between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Choolaah’s family-style meals
