Stroll through the Mattress Factory

The many artists in residence at the Mattress Factory have transformed this former warehouse into an immersive art museum, each room featuring a different exhibit. Wander through the museum’s 20 permanent installations, as well as a handful of rotating exhibitions currently on display. When you’re done, get a table at La Prima Espresso in Nova Place, the North Side’s recently constructed mixed-use business space. Talk about some of your favorite exhibits while sipping on a cup of coffee brewed with specially sourced green coffee beans.

Relax in a Himalayan Salt Cave

We’re not suggesting you fly to Nepal. But if you prefer a date that provides an escape from the hustle and bustle, check out the Himalayan salt cave at Peace, Love & Zen Wellness Center and relax like the ancients. Located in East Liberty, this man-made cave, crafted from real Himalayan salt, will introduce you both to the healing properties of salt therapy, a natural remedy used by Europeans for centuries. De-stress together as you relax side-by-side in zero-gravity chairs and breathe in a steady stream of mineral-rich salt air. Your bodies might thank you later, when you both dodge the next illness going around at work!

Get your game on at Arsenal Bowl

Gaining some friendly bragging rights feels good in any relationship. If you think you can beat your partner in a game of bowling, get to Arsenal Bowling Lanes in Lawrenceville. Head over to the full-service bar before your game and grab a beer to drink as you bowl. Afterwards, get ready for a different kind of bowl: Take a short walk down Butler Street to Ki Ramen and enjoy a specialty ramen bowl prepared with house-made noodles.

Dodgeball at the Ace Hotel

Life can get stressful sometimes. Why take it out on your beau when you can channel it productively during a friendly Monday night dodgeball game at the Ace Hotel, sponsored by City of Play. (They promise the crowd is much more Average Joe than Globo Gym.) Just show up at the door, and sign up to play from 7 to 9 p.m., then stick around for team play afterward. If you get too tired, take a break and grab a drink while you watch other people pummel each other. What’s more romantic than that?
