Meredith Grelli is one of the powerhouse innovators at Wigle Whiskey. If you’ve been to Wigle, then you know that no one can get as animated as she does about Pittsburgh’s storied whiskey past. Here’s a little known fact about Meredith—she graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. The lady knows food. Best meal she ate last week?
“Alex (Grelli) and I stole away to the Café at The Frick one weekday afternoon.
I had the butternut squash soup with crispy sage leaves and a foraged wild mushroom and ricotta ravioli. I just love the Café so much … it feels like the perfect place for a late afternoon lunch. Its cozy and romantic … feels like a little bit illicit—like you got away. Which we did, because it was a weekday afternoon!
What makes it is the environment that the staff creates—they go out of their way to make sure folks have an incredible experience. You never feel like you’re being swept up by a trend—just wonderful classic food with a staff that cares.
It’s definitely a special place in Pittsburgh.”
