You might have seen her grabbing a (seitan) cheesesteak at Spak Brothers. Or walking her dog along Penn Ave. She may even be your next door neighbor. Last week, Ashley Frohnert, of Friendship, was named PETA’s Sexiest Vegan Next Door.
On April 29, we wrote about Ashley reaching the Top 10 to make the final push for the voting close on May 2. And last week PETA announced her win, besting over 300 vying for the title. PETA spokesperson Nina Kahn shared that Ashley was chosen based on a combination of public vote and Frohnert’s enthusiasm and commitment to championing animal welfare.
Frohnert volunteers for Voices for Animals and advocates for initiatives such as the national movement, Meatless Monday – a project that she has been lobbying for Mayor Bill Peduto to adopt. “I’m hoping the media awareness and coverage will help me get in the door.”
PETA launched the contest as a fun way to promote healthy eating and to show how beautiful compassion can be. According to Kahn, Ashley Forhnert embodies the compassionate vegan, “attractive inside and outside.”
