USA Today is going apple picking.

The publication has nominated 20 cideries across the country for its 2021 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award, including Threadbare Cider House & Meadery in Spring Garden. Best Cidery is a new category in the annual national list. The inaugural nominees were chosen by a panel of craft libation experts.

You can help Threadbare take the top spot by voting online once a day through March 16.

Located at 1291 Spring Garden Ave., Threadbare is open for takeout and indoor dining from 4:30 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The company also ships its products to more than 40 states.

“It’s an honor for Threadbare to be included on this list alongside some of the best cideries in the country,” says Brian Bolzan, the company’s head cider maker. “In a little over three years in business, it’s been a privilege to become a part of such a wonderful community of cider drinkers and makers.”

If you’re feeling large amounts of Pittsburgh pride lately, it’s because numerous Steel City restaurants have been making national news.

Burgatory was named one of America’s Hottest Startup Fast Casuals by QSR magazine, and Tessaro’s in Bloomfield and JJ’s Family Restaurant in Mt. Washington made Esquire’s list of 100 Restaurants America Can’t Afford to Lose. Strip District-based DiAnoia’s Eatery made Yelp’s list of the top 100 places to eat in 2021 and four area breweries are in the running for best beer label of 2020.
