Bakery Square

Bakery Square Living

May 22
5 – 8 p.m.

Before you fire up that grill, pack your camping supplies and make a run to the nearest beer distributor to prep for the Memorial Day weekend festivities, head to Bakery Square in East Liberty for some fun in the great urban outdoors.

Your one stop shop for a spring happy hour, the BkSq Summer Kick Off features a winning combo of live music, food trucks, craft beer and the chance to socialize in one of the city’s newest mixed-use developments.

Setting up shop in the green space located across the street from Coffee Tree Roasters and right in front of the new apartment development, Bakery Living, the pre-summer bash will feature live music by the Kyle Lawson Band, Wreck Loose and Coronado.

Arrive hungry, because the event’s impressive roster of local food trucks—which will line Living Place (parallel to Penn Avenue)—includes Nakama, The Burgh Bites Cart, La Palapa, Randita’s, Pgh Taco Truck, The Steer and Wheel, Rolling Cones, Bella Christies Sweet Boutique, Saucy Mamas, Pgh Crepes, Berlin Street Food and more.

After you fuel up, grab some craft beer from Full Pint and Rivertowne on the lawn, and pick up a reusable wooden six pack carrier that’s easily assembled like a puzzl—designed by the Bakery Square-based company PuzzlePax and fabricated at TechShop Pittsburgh. You can even have your caricature drawn by local artist Shawnelle.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and folding chairs for relaxing on the grass, as seating will be limited. The event is free and open to the public. All food and drink will be fore sale. Parking is available in the Bakery Square Garage.
