Kelly Strayhorn Theater
February 5 & 6
7 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.
Heat up frigid February with some reggae or flamenco—or even better, both—at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater (KST). And this weekend, there are two terrific reasons to head to the East Liberty-based cultural venue for a dose of music and dance.

First up on Friday night, celebrate the life and legacy of Bob Marley during a hometown homage to one of the most important and influential musical figures of the 20th century. What better way to pay tribute to the world renowned Jamaican singer, songwriter and guitarist than with a party on the eve of what would have been his 71st birthday in the very city where Marley played his final show—which took place on September 23rd, 1980 at downtown Pittsburgh’s Stanley Theater just eight months before he passed away from melanoma at age 36.
Warm up and dance the night away in celebration of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, as the KST transforms its lobby into a Jamaican dance hall filled with new and old-school reggae favorites, special live performances, delicious treats and more.
Featured performers include reggae and fusion musicians ORieL & the Revoluters, Truth and Rites, Jah Ques and Keishera James, along with local DJs Paul Dang and Herman Soy Sos Pearl. Hosted by emcee Medina Jackson, the party will also feature craft vendors and the Brassero Grill Food Truck.
Launching his groundbreaking career with The Wailers and going on to achieve international acclaim as a solo artist, reggae pioneer, cultural and spiritual figure and peace and justice activist, Marley is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the United Nations’ Peace Medal of the Third World, the Jamaican Order of Merit and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
And don’t worry about the cost, because admission to the Bob Marley Party is “Pay What Makes You Happy.” Doors open at 7 p.m.

Ready to keep moving? Head back to the KST on Saturday, February 6th for the next installment of Fiesta Flamenca!
Teaming up with Flamenco Pittsburgh, the KST will swing open its doors so you can hit the dance floor for an unforgettable night packed with music, dance, song, food, wine, and friends—all celebrating the rhythms of Flamenco.
The event will showcase performances by Alba Flamenca, students from Flamenco Pittsburgh, special guest musicians and more. A Pittsburgh-based ensemble dedicated to promoting and exploring the art of flamenco, Alba Flamenca features Jon Bañuelos, James Bond, Luke Savage, Barb York and Carolina Loyola-Garcia.
Whether you’re a seasoned dancer, musician or fan—or a newbie to the art form—don’t miss this chance to explore Pittsburgh’s vibrant flamenco community. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Admission to Fiesta Flamenca! is $15 online or $20 at the door.
