Threadbare Cider House
November 16
6 p.m.
It’s a crisp, cool late November night as the holiday season approaches — which do you reach for, a beer or a cocktail?
Grab both — and cast your vote —when two of Pittsburgh’s top libations destinations battle it out. A friendly smackdown between Wigle Whiskey and East End Brewing, the “Cocktail vs Beer Dinner” invites you to help these boozy rivals decide which drink reigns supreme.
Taste delicious fall creations prepared by Theadbare’s Executive Chef Jay Wess, such as “The Egg, Obviously” (flatbread quiche with local greens, parmesan and scrambled egg) and “A Joker in the Barnyard” (farmhouse cider zabaglione with apples and nutmeg), plus signature drinks like organic wheat whiskey topped with East End Big Hop Harvest.
Each creative course will be paired with one beer and one cocktail. After eating each course, vote on your favorite pairing, and a triumphant winner will be crowned at the end of the night. According to tradition, the loser must post pictures on social media showing themselves enjoying the other company’s product.
Thursday’s event is part of Wigle’s annual Beer Week celebration, which culminates Friday with the release of its Winter Malt at their Omni William Penn tasting room during Light Up Night.
