City Theatre is closing out its 2018 season with several exciting milestones.

Launching its affiliation with the National New Play Network, the company is producing the first work in Pittsburgh by playwright Carla Ching. As part of a rolling world premiere, “Nomad Motel” will travel to partner theaters in Atlanta and Kansas City.

A writer for TV shows such as “Graceland,” “I Love Dick” and “Fear the Walking Dead,” Ching has created a work that amplifies voices of real people whose stories are not typically told through theater.

Directed by LA-based artist Bart DeLorenzo, “Nomad Motel” depicts a “family consumed by California’s crippling housing crisis and the life of a ‘parachute kid,’ sent to live alone in America while his father remains in Hong Kong.” Featuring live music, the coming-of-age tale explores concepts of family, survival and home, while chronicling the lives of two determined teenagers.

Don’t miss the Greenroom Art & Afterparty and Momentum Happy Hour. Making the production accessible to all, City Theatre is introducing “Pick Your Price” tickets which start at just $5.
