City Theatre is closing out its 2018 season with several exciting milestones.
Launching its affiliation with the National New Play Network, the company is producing the first work in Pittsburgh by playwright Carla Ching. As part of a rolling world premiere, âNomad Motelâ will travel to partner theaters in Atlanta and Kansas City.
A writer for TV shows such as âGraceland,â âI Love Dickâ and âFear the Walking Dead,â Ching has created a work that amplifies voices of real people whose stories are not typically told through theater.
Directed by LA-based artist Bart DeLorenzo, âNomad Motelâ depicts a âfamily consumed by Californiaâs crippling housing crisis and the life of a âparachute kid,â sent to live alone in America while his father remains in Hong Kong.â Featuring live music, the coming-of-age tale explores concepts of family, survival and home, while chronicling the lives of two determined teenagers.
Donât miss the Greenroom Art & Afterparty and Momentum Happy Hour. Making the production accessible to all, City Theatre is introducing âPick Your Priceâ tickets which start at just $5.
