Dormont Pool
September 4
3:45 — 8 p.m.

For most people, the last day a public pool is open for the season is met with long sighs, bittersweet transitions and a dread of the winter chill to come.

In Dormont — which is home to Pennsylvania’s largest swimming pool — Labor Day has become a beloved tradition for man’s best friends and their caregivers. After the human swimmers and sunbathers get in their last dip of summer, the Dormont Pool will invite the area’s four-legged friends to make a big splash on September 4.

Pooches of all ages and sizes are invited to cool down and show off their swimming, fetching and paddling skills at the massive historic landmark, which features a sloped entrance.

The Doggie Dip offers three dogs-only sessions: small dogs (30 pounds or less) from 3:45 to 5 p.m., all dogs (all sizes welcome) from 5:15 – 6:30 p.m., and large dogs (60 pounds or more) from 6:45 to 8 p.m.

The event will also feature basket raffles and pet-related vendors. Proceeds benefit Humane Annual Reduce and the Borough of Dormont.

One dog per handler is permitted. Dogs must be current on vaccinations and must be friendly with humans and other canines.

Register now, because this furry fun fest often sells out.
