We can think of no better way to bid adieu to 2015 than by chuckling all night long via legendary comedy troupe, The Second City.
Keeping the New Year’s revelry going, Chicago’s renowned jokesters are rolling into downtown’s O’Reilly Theater with their brand new show dubbed Hooking Up With The Second City. Presented by Pittsburgh Public Theater, the wild ride features fast-paced sketches, hilarious songs and witty improv—all wrapped up in a show that explores romance and all the “crazy things we do for love.”
Showcasing the next generation of the comedy world’s brightest, Hooking Up With The Second City stars Ali Barthwell, Kelsey Kinney, Martin Morrow, Charles Pettitt, Jasbir Singh and Casey Whitaker. Directed by Anneliese Toft, the show features music direction and onstage accompaniment by Vinnie Pillarella. These are three hilarious nights the comedy-loving Burgh should not miss.
First hatched in 1950s as an intimate group of young actors that included Mike Nichols and Elaine May, Second City has evolved into a powerhouse comedy troupe that has given legions of famed funny people their start. The list of alums includes Joan Rivers, Stephen Colbert, John Belushi, Bill Murray, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Amy Poehler Tina Fey and Steve Carell.
Hooking Up With The Second City runs for four performances: January 7th at 8 p.m., January 8th at 8 p.m. and January 9th at 5:30 and 9 p.m. A cash bar will be open in The Public’s main lobby.
