American history comes alive at the Frick Art & Historical Center‘s free Family Fun Day. During American Adventure, kids of all ages are invited to explore the newest exhibition on view at the Point Breeze-based museum. Spanning the country’s early years of independence through the dawn of the 20th century, An American Odyssey: The Warner Collection of American Painting features 50 works by some of the country’s most acclaimed artists, such as Gilbert Stuart, Winslow Homer and Thomas Cole. Get creative together at art stations located throughout the museum. Design an artful still life, create a vibrant landscape and strike a fancy pose in the portrait parlor. Take a special family tour of Clayton to learn about how the Frick family lived during the Victorian Age. Imagine visiting with guests 100 years ago in the fancy red parlor, sneaking a cookie from Chef Spencer’s bustling kitchen or playing games in the upstairs sitting room. You can even touch Victorian artifacts and guess how they were used during the interactive docent-led tour! Advance registration is required for Clayton tours.
