As June approaches, the telltale signs of summer are here: restless kids taking final exams, pools being prepped and nights getting warmer.

Cue Alice Cooper’s iconic 1972 love letter to summer quite literally—when Kid City Rockers brings the party to Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh’s premier indie dance party for kids is providing the summer soundtrack for an outdoor party honoring renowned environmentalist and Pittsburgh native Rachel Carson—who was born in Springdale on May 27, 1907.

Head to the outdoor Backyard exhibit to dance the day away and travel through hands-on nature stations.

Meet local artist Cynthia Lee, creator of the new zine series, Healthy by DeZine, pick up an autographed copy and design your own zine.

Next, the youngest music fans will rock out as DJ Kelly Mom spins upbeat tunes that kids love discovering and parents grew up dancing to. Dance your hearts out together to everyone from La Tigre and the Ramones, to The White Stripes and Bob Marley.

The event is free. Admission is required to explore the museum before or after the dance party.
