Allegheny Elks Lodge #339
Noon to 4 p.m.
Thanks to tributes, covers and homages heard ’round the world, the music, style and spirit of pop culture icon David Bowie lives on—and here in the Burgh one homegrown celebration invites kids and parents to “put on your red shoes and dance the blues.” This Valentine’s Day let Kid City Rockers transport you to a dance floor of fun at Pittsburgh’s premiere indie dance party for kids of all ages.
Honoring the life and legacy of the Starman–and filling hearts with love and oxygen–Kid City Rockers will set up shop inside the cozy Allegheny Elks Lodge #339 in Pittsburgh’s historic Deustchtown neighborhood for its next rockin’ installment.
Running from 1 to 4 p.m., “Modern Love: A Valentine Tribute to Bowie” will feature an afternoon of fun, music and movement, snacks and refreshments, prizes, and yes, even a full bar for attendees ages 21 and up. Kids will receive a special take-home souvenir.
If you want to channel your inner Ziggy Stardust and rock out with your kids then Kid City Rockers is the place for you. And if your kids—or you—are shy about hitting the dance floor, you’ll love this event’s fresh, fun and welcoming approach to enjoying music in public spaces.
Kids City Rockers is the brainchild of Kelly Day (aka DJ Kelly Mom), who loves to enjoy hip music with her three children. A community leader from Brighton Heights who has spent two decades amassing an extensive vinyl collection, Kelly was a DJ at WPTS, ran a residency in Hollywood and is an alum of the DJ Scratch Academy. She’s passionate about helping music lovers relive some of their own rock star and dance floor glory days—while introducing their own kids to catchy, timeless music by bands such as The Cure, The Ramones, La Tigre, New Order, Vampire Weekend, Bob Marley, the White Stripes and much more.
Tickets are limited. Advance purchase is recommended. Cost is $5 per adult.
