This Saturday, August 29th, the second annual Pittsburgh Comedy Festival invites the city’s youngest comedy fans to enjoy the one-of-a-kind Kids Comedy Cabaret. Setting up shop inside Oakland’s cozy Henry Heymann Theatre, the unique two-hour showcase will feature interactive improv performances by The Penny Arcade, magic shows with Vince Charming and live music from Uke & Tuba. Entirely free, the Kids Comedy Cabaret is on a mission to make comedy an accessible art form for Pittsburgh audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Before the show starts, kids and their families will create costumes, craft props and dream up imaginative characters at The Penny Arcade’s collaboration stations. Next, the band Uke & Tuba will serenade the crowd and get the party started with their energetic, trademark covers of iconic pop songs.

Once everyone is snug in their seats, The Penny Arcade will take contributions developed during the collaboration station activities and bring them to life via scenes and characters made up right on the spot.

During the cabaret, children will be introduced to this exciting form of creative expression, will get to see firsthand how ideas are shaped during comedy shows and will have opportunities to get involved in the onstage fun. This is your chance to use your imagination and find out why kids comedy doesn’t have to be all about clowns and balloons.

After the improv show, Pittsburgh’s own Vince Charming will dazzle crowds with his clever combination of illusion, magic and uplifting comedy. The cabaret show will culminate with a grand finale kids dance party featuring live music by Uke & Tuba.
