Mattress Factory Museum
June 21
1 – 5 p.m.
Thankfully for kids and families around the city, summer’s best party comes with a second round. Just 36 hours after throwing its signature benefit bash—the highly anticipated Urban Garden Party—the Mattress Factory museum will swing open its doors on the Northside to host a free Community Day.
This year’s “M is for Mattress Factory” theme will provide the perfect inspiration for children and kids of all ages to dive right in to lots of creative fun at the one-of-a-kind museum.
Ready to celebrate the 13th letter of the alphabet? Move your feet to the beat with a lively lineup of musical merrymaking, featuring performances by Machette Kisumontao, Molly Alphabet, the May Day Marching Band and Amongst the Monks.
Be a DIY maker as you create magical medallions, masking tape mazes, mythical monster masks, miniature gardens and more. Check out impressive acts by mime and magician Howard Mincone, and then capture your own mugshot in the Fishstep Studios photo booth. Fuel up on mobile food munchies provided by PGH Taco Truck, Franktuary and The Pop Stop.
A celebration of the Mattress Factory’s Northside neighborhood, local families and art lovers of all ages and backgrounds, the welcoming and engaging day showcases making, exploration and creativity inside and on the grounds of the unique museum.
The MF Community Garden Party is free and open to all ages. No reservations are required. For parking information and directions, go here.
