Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium

August 15 – 28
11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

You don’t have to trek 7,000 miles to Africa to experience the awe and wonder of the safari this summer. This month, pack up the entire family and head to Kids’ Zoofari for an exciting summer staycation right here in our own backyard.

Kicking off on Saturday, August 15, Kids’ Zoofari runs daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Highland Park-based destination through Friday, August 28.

A summertime family tradition, Kids’ Zoofari at The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium features a range of theme-based art, craft and animal activities for kids of all ages.

Participate in hands-on animal enrichment activities up close, learn helpful back-to-school tips during “A to Z Safety” activities led by Pittsburgh Police officers and even—if you dare—touch a swimming stingray in the PPG Aquarium.

Have a burning question about your favorite animal? Meet the dedicated keepers who work behind-the-scenes at The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, and ask the experts everything you want to know about the animals.

One of just six major zoo and aquarium combinations in the US, The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is nestled within 77 acres of park land, where it exhibits more than 4,000-plus animals representing 475 species—including 20 threatened or endangered species—and also participates in 64 Species Survival Plans.

All Kids’ Zoofari activities are free and included with general admission.
