12 — 6 p.m.

Your family’s play-cation awaits in the heart of the Golden Triangle at this Saturday’s Venture Outdoors Festival.
Get active together, explore a new activity, and find out firsthand why our region is a mecca for outdoor recreation. The free, rain-or-shine showcase of all things outdoors is open to all ages and entirely free.
Ready to rock in an urban playground?
Step into a harness, strap on a helmet and secure your carabiner: You’re now ready to summit the vertical climbing wall and check out the stunning views from two stories up in the air. Reel in a big one as you cast a line into the Mon and enjoy fishing activities all day long (no license required!) provided by the PA Fish and Boat Commission, Islands Firearms Co. and Venture Outdoors.

River lovers can traverse the tranquil Allegheny via kayak, or paddle along to exhilarating drumbeats during Dragon Boating Trips led by Pittsburgh’s own Three Rivers Rowing Association. Learn to play 18th-century cricket at the Fort Pitt Museum, and join the Pittsburgh Major Taylor Cycling Club to explore scenic trails around the Golden Triangle and North Shore.
In the event’s special KidZone, the youngest outdoor adventurers in your clan can join a bike rodeo, create nature art, learn to build survival shelters, and compete in fun scavenger hunts around the park.
When you’re ready to unwind, enjoy live music by the Pittsburgh Songwriters Circle and Jordan Umbach, and pop into the Yoga Tent to balance your chakras.
Experienced Venture Outdoors staff will be on hand to assist kids and families. Go green by ditching the car and heading downtown by bike, bus or T. Learn more about the festival here.
