A vibrant and exhilarating production for the entire family, the timeless tale explores family, love, redemption, integrity, and more. Presented by the PMT Preteens, The Lion King Jr. runs March 23 through March 26 at the New Hazlett Theater on the North Side.

Also inspired by the hit Broadway show directed by Julie Taymor, the production features iconic music and lyrics by Elton John and Tim Rice, and a book by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi. Open to all ages, the production also showcases additional music and lyrics by Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, and Hans Zimmer.

Theater-goers will meet youthful lion Simba, who is expected to succeed his father, Mufasa, as King of the Pride Lands. Born into royalty, Simba spends his days exploring the sprawling savanna grasslands of Africa and idolizing his kingly father.

When Simba’s evil uncle Scar murders Mufasa and wreaks unimaginable tragedy upon the kingdom, Simba is forced to flee the Pride Lands, leaving his old life behind. Follow Simba as he learns about life, family and himself from his best friend Nala, the wise shaman Rafiki, and his many new companions, and eventually returns to challenge the tyrannical Scar and take his rightful position as King of the Pride Lands.

Directed by Brady Patsy, the production features lighting by Forrest Trimble and sound design by Angela Baughman. Starring as Simba are Jack Tongel, Illyssa Bails, and Luke Metropulos.
