Move over Snow White, Skippyjon Jones is here to warm hearts and share important life lessons.
Based on the bestselling children’s book by award-winning author and illustrator, Judy Schachner, Theatreworks USA is bringing “Skippyjon Jones Snow What” to six different stages located throughout the Pittsburgh region, including the Byham Theater and local schools.
Discover how your imagination can lead you anywhere you want to go as you meet Skippyjon the Siamese cat — who thinks he’s a Mexican Chihuahua! While his sisters are occupied by Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Skippy heads off for exciting adventures in his bedroom closet.
Follow the kitty’s alter ego Skippito Friskito — and his friends the Seven Chimichangos — as they rescue the beautiful princess Nieve Qué, battle an evil dragon and defeat the Bruja.
A twist on the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale, “Skippyjon Jones” features a libretto and lyrics by Kevin Del Aguila and music by Eli Bolin.
The show is part of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s Citizens Bank Children’s Theater Series, which hosts international performing arts productions geared for children ages three and older.
