Across the globe, creative costumes and masks are being crafted to show off fantastical tails, powerful paws, wondrous wings and more — all in anticipation for Halloween night.

In Pittsburgh, the youngest animal lovers can do much more than dress up as their favorite furry, four-legged friends.

Hop, slither or crawl on over to the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium to celebrate spooky October with animals of all kinds at two of Pittsburgh’s top family destinations.

Packed with four fun-filled days of Halloween and animal-themed activities, ZooBoo has a trick and a treat for revelers of all ages.

Head out on the prowl as you trick-or-treat throughout the animal exhibits, enjoy two not-so-spooky haunted houses and strike a pose while competing in costume competitions.

Remember to go green by bringing your own reusable tote bag.

Head back October 26 and 30 for the Zoo’s “Wildlife Painted Pumpkins” program from 10 to 11 a.m. Bring a pumpkin to paint, decorate and take home, meet creepy creatures and have fun crafting with a family member.

Looking for more family-friendly Halloween events? Check out the Sharpsmeade Fall Festival in Kennedy Park, Owl-o-Ween at the Aviary and the Member Spook-tacular Halloween Event at Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.
