Bricolage Production Company

December 4 – 20
8 p.m.

An icon of the silver screen will be brought to life this month during Bricolage Production Company‘s next installment of Midnight Radio. Wrapping up its sixth season of the popular live radio series, Bricolage brings the timeless cinematic classic, It’s a Wonderful Life, to its intimate Downtown stage.

Bricolage brings the film’s spirit of the season to life right before the very eyes—and ears—of studio audiences during a dynamic live radio broadcast featuring five actors performing the voices of dozens of characters.

Midnight Radio-goers will travel back to post-WWII small-town life in Bedford Falls, New York. Follow along with kindhearted protagonist George Bailey, as he confronts his fears and struggles on a very dramatic Christmas Eve. With a little help from his new friend, guardian angel Clarence, George faces local robber baron Henry Potter, and gains new insights into the meaning of his life.

Directed by Alex Tobey and written by Joe Landry, It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play stars Brett Goodnack, Andrea Weinzierl, Wali Jamal, Jason McCune and Elena Alexandratos. Animated by Midnight Radio’s signature elements, the show will engage theater-goers via live radio-style shenanigans, comedic commercials, musical guests and plenty of evocative Foley sound effects. Reminding us to appreciate our wonderful life, our favorite everyman learns that “no man is a failure who has friends” and “it doesn’t take money to be the richest man in town.”

Be sure to arrive at 7:30 p.m. to partake in Bricolage’s special “Happy Half-Hour” festivities featuring beer, wine, eggnog and zany activities in the theater’s lobby.

How do those sound effects actually work? Experiment with real Foley equipment during a free hands-on Sensory Workshop offered on December 18th at 7:30 p.m. Jingle some bells and create footsteps in the snow as you join the company and crew to play with the very equipment used in the show.

Can’t make it to the show? Tune in to 90.5 WESA on December 19th to hear a live broadcast of It’s a Wonderful Life!
