Running at City Theatre’s Lester Hamburg Studio, the Pittsburgh premiere of Colman Domingo‘s Off-Broadway favorite, Wild With Happy, will make you think differently about dying.
With equal doses of levity and profundity, the play follows struggling actor Gil, who returns home to bury his mother. But where to scatter her ashes? Find out what transpires when Gil’s “outrageous and overbearing Aunt Glo, hilarious best friend Mo and an intriguing new-age funeral director” all interfere with Gil’s memorial plans.
Merging fairytale with reality, the play conveys moving lessons about life, death, grief, and healing. Fast-paced and irreverent, the sharp comedy also satirizes everything from organized religion and Disneyworld, to the American funeral industry.
