Highland Park

Sundays through September 6
5 – 7 p.m.

The sweet sounds of jazz have returned to Highland Park this month.

On August 2, the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra kicked off the annual Reservoir of Jazz Concert Series. The free series, sponsored by BNY Mellon, Highland Park Community Council and ARAD, presents some of the best local jazz musicians for one of Pittsburgh’s favorite end-of-summer events.

Every Sunday evening through September 6, head to Highland Park to picnic, unwind and listen to local jazz talent from 5 – 7 p.m. Performers this summer include Boilermaker Jazz Band on August 9, Blink on August 16, Elevations on August 23, the Wilson/Barnes/Throckmorton Trio on August 30 and, finally, Elta Cox on September 6.

This is the first year that the highly regarded event will expand into the month of September. This year, the final performance of the series doubles as a Labor Day weekend concert.

Feel like dancing after all that jazz? Following each Sunday evening jazz performance, Citiparks’ Summer Soul Line Dancing will take place in Highland Park from 7 – 9 p.m. This R&B inspired line dancing taught by instructor Roland Ford is free and for all levels.

Both events meet at Highland Avenue and Reservoir Drive. For the full schedule of events and for more information on these end-of-summer favorites, visit the Citiparks website.
