6 p.m.

Before taking their show on the road for a national spring tour, Squonk Opera will activate the North Side’s newest mixed-use development with its show, “Pneumatica.”

Free to all ages, the immersive event will be staged at NOVA Place, in the outdoor green space located behind Federal Galley.

Described as “about air, made of air and powered by air,” the family-friendly production showcases Squonk’s immersive approach to merging art, design, music, poetry, science, math and engineering.

Watch as a 40-foot “Lady Pneumatica” inflatable comes to life, powered by giant blowers and vortex fans. With arms extended toward the sky and a giant wind turbine on her head, the creature’s steamy breath will emanate from “accordion lungs” played like a piano by Squonkers.

Featuring live original music, the site will be filled with electronic bagpipes, visual puns, wild guitar and bass riffs,
boisterous music and surreal images.

How does it all work? After the show, Squonk will lead a free backstage tour for kids focused on STEAM learning.
