In the Heights

Benedum Center
July 7—16
8 p.m., 7 p.m. & 2 p.m.

While you’re eagerly awaiting the Pittsburgh premiere of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton next year (The Cultural Trust dropped the big news back in March)—you can get your musical fever fix at summer’s hottest ticket—quite literally—with the Pittsburgh CLO‘s In the Heights.

Winner of four Tony Awards, one Grammy and a Pulitzer Prize nomination, the hit show features music and lyrics by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes.

Be swept away to the dog days of summer to experience three days in the lives of the musical’s main characters—many from the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Cuba—who live in NYC’s vibrant Washington Heights neighborhood.

You’ll have a hard time staying in your seat as the show blends catchy Latin rhythms, hip-hop and pop tunes to explore universal themes such as the American dream, community, perseverance and family.

The talented cast of veterans features several actors from the original Broadway cast, including Blanca Camacho, who stars as Camila, and Stephanie Klemons, who portrays Vanessa.

Don’t miss the special Q & A events with the cast and CLO staff following the 2 p.m. performances on July 9 and 15.
