Tamara Tunie

City Theatre Company
December 9 & 10
7:30 p.m.

Live cabaret, Burgh pride, and iconic songs will heat up the Main Stage for a very special limited-run at City Theatre Company this weekend.

After taking her hit cabaret show, Legends from the ‘Burgh, on a critically acclaimed national tour and packing houses in NYC, Pittsburgh native and CMU graduate Tamara Tunie returns home to perform American standards and jazz songs composed by hometown legends.

Don’t put off buying tickets, because this showstopper is expected to sell out.

Best known for her portrayal of attorney Jessica Griffin on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns, and as medical examiner Melinda Warner on the NBC police drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Tunie was born in McKeesport and grew up in Homestead.

The Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning actress also starred as Margaret Thomason alongside Denzel Washington and John Goodman in Robert Zemeckis’ 2012 film, Flight, and has appeared often on Broadway.

Audiences will be enchanted by Tunie’s evening-length cabaret showcasing songs from a wide array of musical greats who all hail from the city of three rivers—including Lena Horne, Henry Mancini, Phyllis Hyman, George Benson, and more.

Joining Tunie in her prolific, star-studded band will be local jazz legend Roger Humphries on drums, as well as Jeff Grubbs on bass, and Max Leake on piano.

Following fresh on the heels of Benjamin Scheuer performance of The Lion, Legends from the ‘Burgh is the next installment of City Theatre’s new CityEvents series, which presents limited engagement runs of touring shows.
