Arcade Comedy Theater
There’s a new brand of March Madness in town. Instead of unfolding on the court, the fast-paced, thrilling action is underway at Downtown’s Arcade Comedy Theater.
Throughout the mighty month of March, 16 performers are competing in the 4th annual Comedy Royale Improv Madness Tournament. Hosted and produced by Matt Hartman, the original short-form improv competition showcases homegrown talent representing Pittsburgh’s booming comedy scene.
At Comedy Royale, improv is not just a spectator sport. During each hilarious show, four talented comedy artists are pitted against one another in a series of quick and lively improv games. Each performer wears a shirt with a shape, color and number on it, and these variables are used to mix up the teams throughout the shows.
Audience members — that means you — provide suggestions to be used in the scenes, award points to the contestants and can even play roles in the shows.
All teams are vying for the chance to perform in the tournament’s momentous finals showcase on Friday, March 30 at 8 p.m. The culiminating event will feature special surprises and will be judged by celebrity guests such as WDVE’s Val Porter.
Comedy Royale shows are BYOB.
