Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum
June 23
8 – 10 p.m.
Swing your way into warm summer nights—and channel your inner Rosie the Riveter—when the local Yelp crew pops into Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum to host its latest community party.

Turning the Oakland-based landmark into a summer soiree for the 21 and up set, “Yelp’s Swingin’ to Summer” takes a cue from the momentous decade that brought WWII, the Polaroid camera, swing music, George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, and FDR’s unprecedented third term.
Dust off those wedge heels, Bakelite brooches, and shoulder-padded frocks (think brogues and double-breasted suits for the gents), and prepare to jump, jive and jitter the night away. Or come dressed in red, white and blue for this patriotic, pre-Fourth of July affair.
Providing a live soundtrack of hot sounds and timeless classics from the jazz age, outstanding instrumentals, musical Americana and heartfelt vocals will be Pittsburgh’s own Boilermaker Jazz Band. The free evening will also showcase the skillful moves of professional dancers from Frank and Victoria Dance, The Tartan Irregulars and Absolute Ballroom—who will show off their leaping, gliding and Lindy Hopping and offer lessons.
Get a retro pin-up makeover and photo with The Powder Room and The Click Clique, try out a 3D printer with TechShop and play games with Beverly’s Birthday’s.

Adding to the 1940s-era flair will be entertainment and activities by Burghlesque, DJD PGH, ABC Balloon Twisting, MC Sturman Caricatures, Paint Monkey, Tapsnap, and Assemble.
Arrive (very) hungry to enjoy fare from Bluebird Kitchen, Bakn, Dream Cream Ice Cream, The Vandal, Wallace’s Taproom, Pastistio, Josephine’s Toast and more. Wash it all down with adult bevies provided by Arsenal Cider, Full Pint, Penn Brewery, Faber Craft Spirits, Southern Tier, and others. Also on tap will be refreshing selections from Greenlight Juices, Natrona Bottling Company and Turner Dairy Farms.
The party is free, but RSVP is required (space is limited so register here today). A suggested $10 donation will benefit Soldiers & Sailors. Donate $20 to receive a special Yelp swag bag. The event is open to ages 21 and up.
