More than 40,000 runners will take to the streets of Pittsburgh for the 2019 DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events from May 3-5. Not running this year? There are still so many fun ways to experience race day without needing to put on your running shoes.

“The Pittsburgh Marathon truly unites the City of Pittsburgh – you don’t have to be a runner to participate and celebrate in some capacity,” said P3R CEO Patrice Matamoros. “Whether you’re volunteering to hand out water along the course or you just want to come out and cheer on the runners from your front porch ― if you are part of Pittsburgh, you are part of the Pittsburgh Marathon.”

Here are 10 ways you can be a part of the biggest single event staged annually in the City of Pittsburgh!

  1. Help MOVE Runners to the Finish Line – Volunteers are the heart and “sole” of race weekend, and more than 4,000 volunteers annually lend their time to help make race weekend a success. From handing out water at a fluid station, distributing shirts at the Expo or giving medals to runners at the finish line, you can find a volunteer position perfect for you during race weekend.
