The 2019 DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon is less than three months away! Whether you’re already in training or still debating if you want to register, P3R has everything you need to keep you motivated and MOVING toward the start line. Here are a few ways to MOVE yourself during the training season.
Official Virtual Training Program powered by Zwift
Be among the first to join a virtual training program that gamifies your experience and connects you with other runners from all over the world. Runners are able to make use of the customized program by creating a free Zwift account. Simply pair a Bluetooth enabled treadmill or foot pod sensor to the Zwift app to unlock a virtual world of workouts, group runs and even races.
As part of the program, participants will be able to choose from hundreds of events — from fun group runs to fully structured training plans. Workouts will take runners through five different virtual environments, from Watopia’s Mayan Jungle to London’s famous embankment or the futuristic interpretation of New York’s Central Park. In addition, group workouts will be designed specifically to prepare runners for the elevation of the UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon course.

Zwift’s running platform is the first of its kind and a whole new way to train for race day. If a treadmill isn’t your thing, however, you can also take advantage of the Run Coach online training program.
Steel City Road Runners
For the Runner of Steel who prefers to train with others, there are also weekly training runs hosted by the Steel City Road Runners Club (SCRR). Pittsburgh’s largest running club offers multiple training runs each week for a wide variety of fitness levels — from the walker to the avid runner. Experienced coaches and ambassadors are available to answer all of your training questions to make sure you are ready for race day.
Plus, the group will host its annual Course Preview Run on Saturday, April 13. While weekly training runs often focus on different sections of the course, the annual course preview run gives runners the opportunity to see a large chunk of the course.
P3R Spotify Playlist presented by PNC Bank
Do you have go-to song or playlist you love to listen to while training? Now you can share your favorite pump-up jams to one big playlist to help you and your fellow runners get through those long runs!
Submit your song requests using this online form throughout the month of February. The most popular songs will then be curated to create the first ever P3R Spotify Playlist presented by PNC Bank so everyone training for a DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon event can run with the same playlist.

Ready. Set. MOVE. Subscription Box
Did you hear P3R recently launched the new Ready.Set.MOVE. quarterly subscription box? Every box contains premium health and fitness swag from P3R and our race partners to keep you MOVING and motivated throughout the year.
P3R recently mailed the first quarter boxes, and runners can’t stop raving about the 4RUN2 merchandise, a Brooks Running beanie, Nuun Hydration tablets and more. The second quarter box will be mailed in late April — just in time to kick off DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon race week. Don’t wait to treat yourself, or a fellow runner, today!
RunBet Challenge

Join fellow runners for the Spring Training Edition of the P3R RunBet Challenge in March. Participants will bet $40 and split the pot if they succeed in running 20 times during the four-week challenge for a minimum of 30 minutes at an average pace of at least 12 minutes per mile. Be on the lookout for more details coming soon!
