Whatever your fitness level is, P3R has an event for you this year.

When Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon, Inc. (P3R) launched in 2008, founders Patrice Matamoros and Dee Stathis had one goal in mind: to bring the Pittsburgh Marathon back after a five-year hiatus. Now, 10 years later, they have done much more than that.

P3R has become Pittsburgh’s go-to group for powerful training programs, distinctive city races, and exceptional health and fitness events.

Not only is the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon back and thriving, it has also become one of the fastest growing races in the country with more than 40,000 participants this year. The event is much more than just a race — it’s become a community celebration of health and fitness that attracts runners of all ages and abilities.

The organization helps runners stay motivated by hosting a year-long calendar of races and training events. In the summer, the GNC Live Well Liberty Mile challenges runners to see how fast they can run a single mile, while the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler and the new Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) Trail Relay help runners set goals in the fall.

P3R is passionate about promoting the love of running and enhancing community access to health and fitness education, which is why the organization also offers year-round health and fitness programs. The Steel City Road Runners club provides support to Pittsburgh’s running community by hosting weekly training runs with coaches and ambassadors for their 1,200 plus members.

Since 2010, more than 30,000 children have participated in the award-winning Kids of STEEL program, the free youth physical activity and nutrition program designed to instill lifelong, healthy habits in children.

Whether you’re just starting a fitness program or running your umpteenth marathon, P3R has a race for you this year.

Bored with traditional road races and need a new challenge? Then the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) TrailRelay is for you. Presented by UPMC Health Plan, the new GAP Trail Relay is a two-day event that will challenge relay teams of eight runners to tackle 24 legs of varying distances on the 150-mile Greater Allegheny Passage from Cumberland, Maryland, to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Ready to up your mileage? Save your spot at the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler. This scenic course starts in Station Square and travels through the West End, North Side and Strip District before finishing in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Want to get your whole family involved? For the first time this year, the Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race and Dollar Bank Junior Great Race will be held the same weekend.
