OVO from Cirque du Soleil will be performing at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA from May 24th to 28th. Buy tickets here.
- OVO comes to town to present 10 unique circus acts you’ve never seen before.
It pushes the limits of the human body, blending circus disciplines, mixing and reinventing them. You’ll find yourself making all sorts of weird facial expressions when you see a contortionist bending in half, or a person being thrown up in the air and caught six meters away. There’s contortion, trampoline, tumbling, aerial straps, slack wire, and heaps more.
It will open your eyes to all the things you’ve never thought possible to do with your body.
- The show is filled with acrobats and gymnasts with amazing bodies who will motivate you to start working out again.
They come from all around the world and have been training for years to be simply the best at what they do. They continue to train, work out, stretch, warm up and perform daily. They are in shape, there is no doubt about it – talk about amazing beach bodies!
Watching them perform, dance, jump and bounce frenetically all over the stage could make you set new goals for the summer.

- Bug, bugs, and more bugs – Yikes!
OVO is a show all about bugs. Look carefully at the logo of the show and you’ll even see a cricket face. After seeing this show, you might have another perspective on what’s happening under your feet. These bugs are not dark and disgusting – they are colorful and strong.
OVO is a day in a life of a community of insects who assemble mischievous crickets, hardworking ants and spell-binding spiders. You’ll also see the sassiest ladybug you’ve ever seen and hear the live singer who is likely the cutest cockroach you’ve ever met.
Their costumes are just amazing and have been designed by the well-known Liz Vandal. They will transport you straight into the bug’s world!
- OVO has this perfect summer feel you are looking for.
The Director of the show and Composer of the music (performed live on stage) are both Brazilians. You’ll feel this Brazilian inspiration throughout the show – OVO is colorful and uplifting.
But what does OVO mean? It actually means ‘egg’ in Portuguese.
The Foreigner, one of the main characters in the show, arrives unexpectedly in the community of insects with his big ‘OVO’ on his back. They get to know him, accept him into their group and their festivities – a grand Banquete with cheerful music follows. It will inspire your summer nights!

- OVO will be in town only for 5 days.
The show has traveled around the world since 2009 and has been seen by over 5 million people. This is the only chance to catch it before it heads to Europe later in the year.
A cast and crew of 100 people, coming from 21 different countries, traveling with 19 trucks of equipment, will take over the Petersen Events Center for a week to show off their circus skills. You can’t miss it!
(And don’t you think ‘OVO’ is easier to pronounce than other Cirque du Soleil shows?!)
