NEXTpittsburgh is looking for a deeply curious, well-connected, ambitious news reporter who loves to get out and write stories about the people, places and ideas advancing Pittsburgh for all.
Do you fit the bill?
- You are a solid, independent writer who is accurate, quick and delivers clean copy on deadline. Experience is helpful but writing and reporting chops and a strong voice are more important.
- You know what makes a good news story, how to find the most interesting angle, who can give you the best perspective and how to write in a lively style that keeps the reader engaged to the end.
- You’re willing to go deep for the best story. You are passionate about what you do.
- You have the ability to scout out good stories and find breaking news while keeping current with news in Pittsburgh.
- Bonus points if you’re good at social media. And content management systems (but that’s easy).
- You’re willing — and eager — to attend important industry events and have a passion to stay on top of things. We’re looking for someone who gets around a lot and is hungry to find the key stories to cover. If you’re not well-connected now, you soon will be.
- You have a genuine love for Pittsburgh and a desire to help take it to the next level with stories that challenge the region, inform and enlighten, help solve problems and engage citizens.
