It’s Beer Float Friday

Here’s the scoop on when and where you can get a boozy ice cream float.

On Friday, Aug. 6 from 4 to 10 p.m., the folks at Millie’s Lawrenceville Scoop Shop will be making floats with Necromancer Brewing Co.’s new oatmeal stout at 3803 Butler St. in Lawrenceville. There will be 16 different flavors of ice cream to choose from.

The chilly crew will also dish out three varieties of ice cream at Necromancer’s HQ at 2257 Babcock Blvd. in the North Hills. Stop by and slurp or grab some Millie’s pints and a four-pack of beer to make your own float at home.

Things are “Heating Up” on YouTube

“Heating Up,” a Pittsburgh-based, digital-first show that combines plant-based cooking with conversations about climate change and social justice, premieres Aug. 17 on YouTube.

Journalist Natalie Bencivenga and youth climate change activist Leandra Mira co-created the 10-episode series to highlight environmental and social justice leaders in the Pittsburgh region. In each episode, the hosts share healthy, easy-to-try plant-based recipes (which were all reviewed by medical consultant Dr. Natalie Gentile) and interview environmental experts and social justice activists.

A new episode will go live every Tuesday at 8 p.m. through mid-October.
