Voteswagon rolls into Pittsburgh Monday! 

The Great Pennsylvania 2021 Voteswagon Tour stops at the Heinz History Center in the Strip District on Monday, April 26 at 11 a.m. A project of the Draw the Lines PA initiative, the VW bus has been on a monthlong journey across the state to distribute fun swag while highlighting how redistricting affects Pennsylvanians.

Yoga in the Square returns to Downtown

Starting May 2, Yoga in the Square will return to Downtown’s Market Square. A variety of yoga studios will offer one-hour outdoor sessions on Sundays at 10 a.m. and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m through Oct. 13, weather permitting. Participation is limited. You can pre-register online to guarantee a spot, but walk-ups will be welcomed if there is space.

Changes to Light of Life’s Yinzer 5K

Light of Life Rescue Mission’s annual Yinzer 5K is changing course to become a 4.12-kilometer distance that honors Pittsburgh’s famous area code. The organization is partnering with P3R for the Aug. 14 event, which wraps around the North Shore and North Side. Runners can vie for a Best Yinzer running costume and families can participate in The Lil’ Yinzer 1-Mile Fun Run.

Spring Mini Market at Threadbare

Threadbare Cider House & Meadery is hosting a spring market on May 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Guests can support local artisans, enjoy drinks and food. Items include plants and natural products from Cherry Valley Organics, olive oils and balsamic vinegars from Olive and Marlowe, Maia Leppo jewelry, Finch and Flourish paper goods and Pittsburgh Honey.

Benedum Center and Byham Theater receive GBAC STAR facility accreditation

Pittsburgh’s Benedum Center and Byham Theater are the first performing arts venues in Pennsylvania to receive Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) Star Facility Accreditation for their stringent cleaning protocols. With guidance from the GBAC — a division of the worldwide cleaning industry association (ISSA) — the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust implemented the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention in its facilities. The organization is pursuing GBAC STAR accreditation for other venues in the Cultural District, including the Greer Cabaret Theater, Harris Theater and O’Reilly Theater.

Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream opening a North Hills spot

Millie’s is opening a new location at The Village at Pine in Wexford this summer. The space will offer 1,000 square feet of seating on the balcony.
