Wrecking crew

Wrecking Crew Media, J.C. Carter’s audiovisual and creative production company, will move into new space this summer, leaving their 209 Ninth Street home and relocating at 800 Penn Avenue in Downtown.

“We’re going to have an entire floor,” Carter says. “It’s great timing for us since our 10th anniversary is in April.”

The move increases their space from about 3,200 to 4,000 square feet and will  allow the company to expand both its staff and its in-house capabilities. On top of adding in a fourth editing suite, more flexible studio space and breakout space, the company will look to add at least two new employees, including an editor and a salesperson.

“We’re doing more than just making videos for people, we’re doing more marketing,” Carter says. “We want to spend more time with clients and a space that is more representative of the clientele we work with.”

While many small companies like Wrecking Crew have left Downtown for spaces adjacent neighborhoods like the Strip District and the South Side, Carter says it was always his desire to remain in Downtown.

“We still have a lot of clients in Downtown and I wanted to remain a part of the Cultural District. We’re involved in the arts, we hosted gallery crawl events and we’ll continue to do that.”
