PIttsburgh Batman

Kelly Strayhorn Theater

Mover over Steel City, it’s the BatBurgh hour. If you missed the show’s sold-out world premiere at Bricolage last year, have no fear: Pittsburgh Batman is back for a rollicking reprise at a bigger venue. Featuring music composed by Pittsburgh-based hip hop and funk duo Grand Buffet, along with performances by an ensemble cast, the live stage production rewrites the book on the iconic comic character. An over-the-top satirical adventure, the show infuses Batman with some quintessentially Pittsburgh might, creating a cultural mash-up of The Dark Knight, Andy Warhol, Luke Ravenstahl and Donnie Iris. Written and directed by Grand Buffet’s Lord Grunge, the ensemble cast also features local lo-fi pioneer Weird Paul Petroskey, Ultimate Donny (formerly of Gil Mantera’s Party Dream), drag queen Varian “Tising” Huddleston, comedian Davon Magwood, underground hip-hop artist Sage Francis, and more.
