Conflict Kitchen

Swiss Radio & TV features Pittsburgh-based Conflict Kitchen in the news segment, “10 to Ten: Food From Your Political Enemy.” US correspondent Otto Honecker traveled to Pittsburgh to cover the one-of-a-kind eatery, which blends culture and cuisine.

Located in the heart of Oakland in Schenley Plaza, Conflict Kitchen serves cuisine from countries with which the US is in conflict. Each iteration is augmented by food packaging, events, performances and discussions that aim to expand the public’s engagement with each country and culture. Currently serving dishes from North Korea, Conflict Kitchen has served fare from Cuba, Iran, Afghanistan and Venezuela. This summer, look for cuisine from Palestine/Israel. Operating seven days a week, the take-out restaurant creates a constantly changing site for ethnic diversity and dialogue in Pittsburgh.
