The War on Drugs

The Altar Bar

March 22
Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Creating what just might be the perfect jam for a Spring road trip, The War on Drugs released Lost in the Dream in December 2013 on Secretly Canadian. The Philadelphia rockers are currently crisscrossing the US, before heading to Europe, in support of the band’s third studio album, which is kicked off by the the driving nine-minute number, “Under the Pressure.” Fronted by guitarist-vocalist Adam Granduciel, who is well-known for his impressive guitar work with fellow Philly rocker Kurt Vile and The Violators, The War on Drugs seems to occupy a musical realm that skillfully balances raw classic rock & roll, jangle-pop and expansive sonic explorations. Fans of the new Philadelphia sound won’t want to miss the chance to see the quartet, which also features Dave Hartley (bass, guitar), Robbie Bennett (keyboard, piano, guitar) and Patrick Berkery (drums, percussion), perform live at The Altar Bar. Opening the show is White Laces from Richmond, VA.
