Ever wondered if Bill Peduto can act? Well whether you have or not, you’re about to find out. Last Tuesday, as part of their 30th anniversary celebration, The Pittsburgh Project held a roast of its founder and former executive director Saleem Ghubril. The highlight of the evening was a video that gently and hilariously needled Ghubril, dubbed “The Promise Man” for his current position as executive director at The Pittsburgh Promise. The video stars Buhl Foundation President Fred Thieman (sporting a slick bald cap) in a side-splitting role (note to Fred: more please!) and features a small but we would say quite effective role for our fair mayor.

The audience roared with appreciation when this was debuted at the event and you’ll see why.

Ghubril, who is revered in this city, founded The Pittsburgh Project in 1985. The nonprofit organization provides a variety of community development services, including after-school programs for youth and free home repairs for elderly residents.
