After taking office in January, Pittsburgh’s brand new mayor Bill Peduto may have the largest to-do list of any city resident. For Peduto and his new team, Pittsburgh’s post-industrial revival and economic growth are tied to encouraging immigration to the city, boosting residential development, making our region an attractive magnet for startups and adopting more transparency in local government.

Peduto’s tenure in office is being profiled by Fast Company, in their ongoing Co.Exist blog series, “The Class of 2014: The New Mayors Who Are Building The Future of America’s Cities,” which follows new mayors of eight major U.S. urban centers as they try to find new ways to keep their cities innovative, while creating more equitable places.

Read more about Peduto’s plans and the list of new mayors Fast Company is following around the country, from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles.
