Silver Eye Center for Photography

Silver Eye Center for Photography
November 3 & 4
4—9 p.m. & 11a.m.—6 p.m.

The crisp, cool days of fall are perfect for curling up with a good book. Find some one-of-a-kind reads or get a jump on your holiday shopping at this weekend’s Silver Eye Book Fair.

The thoughtfully curated selection will feature an eclectic assortment of “beautiful, strange and utterly unique books” created by innovative publishers, artists and makers hailing from Boston to Brooklyn to Chicago.

The fair will also feature 10-minute artist talks, book signings and a selection of signed and limited-edition prints from Silver Eye’s collection.

Featured vendors include Candor Arts, a publisher of books about life, learning and healing, and Deadbeat Club, which releases small-batch, limited-edition works exploring contemporary photography.

Get a “voyeuristic look into the practices of our favorite creatives” via magazines from Gratuitous Type, and shop for artist-created zines, photobooks and online media from Orange Press — which uses unconventional materials and printing methods to push the boundaries of what books can be.

Troy Hill-based Spaces Corners will showcase contemporary photography books from some of the world’s leading independent and small press publishers. Representing Johnstown, PA will be My Idea of Fun, an art, music and media archive focused on digital preservation.
