Birthday partiers celebrating with Beverly's Birthdays.

Good Morning America visited Pittsburgh this week and they had a big gift today for local nonprofit Beverly’s Birthdays: Not just honoring founder Megs Yunn with a great TV segment focused on her nonprofit, but also awarding her with a donation from UPMC of $10,000 to help fund more birthday parties for underprivileged kids in our region.

Beverly’s Birthdays was on hand at NEXTpittsburgh’s 5th birthday party with candy for our guests and inviting them to prepare candy bags for the many Pittsburgh kids they help.

Beverly’s Birthdays has hosted parties for more than 30,000 kids in southwestern Pennsylvania since Megs Yunn founded the nonprofit in 2011. Last year, they added a mobile fashion truck for families in need of new clothing.

This week’s donation from GMA, funded by UPMC, will allow Beverly’s Birthdays to reach more than 4,700 children.

The funding comes just six months after another televised donation: The nonprofit received $25,000 from Mike Rowe on an episode of his Facebook TV series “Returning the Favor.”
