Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (ATI), a global manufacturer of specialty materials, will move its headquarters from Downtown to The Vision on 15th, a Burns Scalo Real Estate project in the Strip District that is scheduled to be completed next summer.

ATI signed a lease for approximately 20,000 square feet of office space, Burns Scalo announced this week. ATI currently occupies almost twice that amount of space at Six PPG Place.

“There’s no question that the modern workforce has created a flight toward quality office space. The pandemic has only strengthened that movement. Many businesses are taking the opportunity to ‘right-size’ their office space and upgrade their experience,” Burns Scalo CEO Jim Scalo said in a press release.

“Our new workplace, with the dynamic energy of the Strip, will reinforce ATI’s drive for innovation and collaboration as an industry-leading materials science company,” Robert S. Wetherbee, ATI board chair, president and CEO, said in a statement.

“Our employees told us they want a contemporary space with ample amenities, parking, highway access and natural light,” added Beth Powers, chief human resources officer for ATI.

ATI is the first tenant at The Vision on 15th, an eight-story, mixed-use building currently under construction along Smallman Street. The building amenities will include a cafe, a fitness center and 384 parking spaces. The new development is part of a building boom in Pittsburgh.

The global company has several manufacturing locations in Western Pennsylvania: Brackenridge, Latrobe, Monaca, Natrona Heights, Oakdale, Rochester, Vandergrift, Washington and Zelienople.

In July, ATI and the United Steelworkers signed a new four-year labor agreement that ended a strike that began March 30.
