Pittsburgh’s craft beer scene is booming and it’s not just locals who are taking notice.
Thirsty folks from American Craft Beer, a website dedicated to national brew news, recently paid a visit to our fair city to soak up the hoppy culture and its liquid assets. Not, surprisingly, they were impressed.
The Washington, D.C.-based bloggers had this to say:
“Pittsburgh turned out to be more interesting, more vibrant and more fun than we ever expected, and its beer scene, which is pretty amazing, was only part of the ride. Any great beer destination starts with a combination of things, the city, its people, character and vibe … and, of course, its beer. And as it turns out, Pittsburgh has all of those things in spades.”
The post mentions local beer pioneers Penn Brewery, Church Brew Works and East End Brewing and the author paid visits to Trace Brewing (where this journalist wrote this story), Brew Gentlemen and Dancing Gnome. They applaud Pittsburgh for being a friendly place filled with neighborhood breweries that are big on collaboration.
What else would you expect from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood?
We’ll end with this choice quote: “With more breweries per capita in Allegheny County than any county in Pennsylvania (Aadam Soorma, head of marketing at Trace Brewing estimates that there’s one brewery per 10,000 residents) and seven different beer trails that the Pittsburgh Brewers Guild have designed, ‘Steel City’ is maybe the most overlooked beer destination in the nation, but we don’t expect it to remain that way for long.”
