Instead of waiting for the perfect house to come along -- and the competing offers that come with it -- first-time homebuyers in the Pittsburgh area are creating the homes they want through purchase and renovation loans.
The funding is part of more than $9.2 million awarded to local organizations for economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.
A group of investors, led by developer Bill Malloy of Greensburg, is working to raise the estimated $10 million to restore the stately Romanesque building.
